Of SCSI, the FTC and the 'duh' factor
EETimes - July 13, 1998

Some folks would like to see the hidden hand of LSI Logic Corp. in the FTC's
decision, particularly since LSI was quick to offer to acquire Symbios for $760
million at the end of June, after Adaptec pulled out of the running. It is clear that
a third party intervened to provide cooked-up numbers for the FTC, but all
indications are that the efforts came from a SCSI customer of Adaptec and
Symbios. But far more interesting than hunting for conspiracies is to ask why
the FTC would look at such a specious case of market dominance.
