Are you shorting TLAB due to a dilution of earnings or shares when CIEN is acquired, taking the price of TLAB lower? I understand the long part of the long/short play but must admit to not fully understanding the short part of the equation.

Thomas,

I'm hoping that CIEN becomes TLAB, 1:1. At that time, I'll have the same amount of TLAB long (CIEN into TLAB) that I have short (per my short of TLAB). The elimination of the spread is profit.

Once I'm long and short TLAB, I would call Fido and tell them to flatten the position, apply the long against the short (no commission required).
