With what you're spending, look into UUNET's services which are usually not competetive for individual users, but for people needing lots of connect time, you could have 128kb x 24hours with the best backbone in the U.S. for about the same cost.

Ojai,

US West charges a flat rate per month for ISDN lines ($40 I think), and my ISP GTE also only charges a flat rate. You local phone company is screwing you if they charge extra! Of course, that's what monopolies can do!
