CTC,

Nettles' remarks don't trouble me so much. In this day and age, everyone is focused on meeting analyst expectations for a quarter.

I do think, though, that Birck has a healthy focus on the long-term strategic picture. In his view -- and he runs the company -- TLAB shareholders ought to stick with this deal because it offers a real opportunity to meld TLAB's products with optical transmission. As was said several times in the cc, TLAB's customers already are talking about what CIEN/TLAB products they might purchase.

So, if you really do believe in long-term strategic planning, and in where Birck has brought his company, then you ignore the 3Q (as has Birck) and you plow ahead with the merger and what should develop into a real opportunity for TLAB shareholders.
