Victor :

---> the bid/ask is 14.125 /15.375. how do you overcome such a huge spread? do you use limit order? my experience was that it takes much more time to fill a limit order.

The manner I use to overcome that large a spread is ----- not to trade...

Normally, I use market orders because I want execution within 15 seconds and I follow the real time quotes and updates closely enough that I normally know the exact price at which I'll get filled or sold.

You're correct about the time to fill a limit order.

The large spread is the reason I've retreated to the OEX ..... I find that at the money and in the money options there are usually 1/8 or 1/4 spread .......
while I do understand that you have to multiply that spread by a tad more than 2 to get to the value of the SPX, it's still small enough that I can operate and make a profit.
