Correct... apparently the attenuation distance for ADSL is on the order of a mile or so (I forget), before a signal boost is required.

In urban settings, a network of repeaters is a relatively cost-effective situation. However, as you find yourself in rural areas you will require a combination of Fiber-optic and ADSL trunks... Fiber to a central location and ADSL running to local phone lines. A much more costly enterprise.

Thus, just like Cable TV, those in the country will be forced to wait (or move), while those in the towns will enjoy mega-bandwidth.
