Globex-Chicago Mercantile Exchange There has been some talk tonight about Globex. Globex is electronic trading done almost 24 hours a day on the S and P 500. It is an indication in the after hours as to where the S and P is at any given time but most importantly is an indicator of where the index is when the market is closed. The electronic trading on the Globex is* thin*and the index moves in a very volatile manner. The index can move significantly from hour to hour. It is probably best used to see where the market will open just before the opening bell. It is also a very useful hedging tool. One can hedge trading on the Globex in the after hours before the market opens.
