Of course shorting is ONLY ONE of the VSE's problems, but it's a major problem. And it's a problem that can be tackled. If the VSE had any guts, it would declare simply NO SHORTING and give those who are now short until year end to cover all outstanding shorts. When the VSE wakes up and realizes its friends are not the shorting houses (some of which seem to own and control the VSE), but ordinary investors, it might take some action. At least that's the message I'd like to convey. Right now, the VSE is in desperate need of BUYERS, not SHORTsellers.
