Acushla is an Irish term of endearment. Gaelic, it is roughly translated "my pulse..." as in "dear heart". I imagine I have a thing for Italian women, my wife's lineage is Genoese. And you are absolutely correct on the earlier issue.. Buying her flowers and candy would do little good. She knows when I trip up and I believe she has a (very spacious) part of her mind reserved to accumulate all my mistakes, ready to deliver them in machine gun fashion at the drop of a hat.
