That's what got me interested in this area in the first place. Because at just about any time in the last five centuries (other than the last 18 years) gold either WAS a conservative investment or WAS money. The last 18 years have also been a great--maybe the most manic--stock bull (which is an excellent measure of public optimism). The last 18 years have also seen a proliferation of "types" of securities (e.g., derivatives and such).

This too will pass.
