Adaptec May Be A Bargain - Barron's

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Despite recent troubles, hardware and software provider Adaptec Inc. (ADPT - news) may be a good buy at current prices, an article in today's Barron's said.
The stock closed Friday at just under 12, quite a distance from its 52-week high of 54-1/4.
''Honest-to-goodness bargains'' are tough to find among companies making semiconductor equipment, chips, and disk- drives, the article argues.
''Adaptec looks like one of the few exceptions to the rule,'' the article said. Some analysts believe the recent management change at the company could signal a turnaround, the article said.
The company is undergoing a serious of cost-cutting measures and it could benefit from a cyclical recovery in the disk-drive business, the article noted.

I couldn't help but notice these two stocks track since Dec '97.
That did it - I'm not buying ADPT.

Edwin, I share your frustration with the pace of Iomega
developments. And "keeping it all for yourself" is what
brought Apple down.
