Don,

It's the weekly close that bothered me - very ominous. The 40 week MA brings the NYSE back to about 547 or Dow 8600-8650. That's where I see the max if the rally doesn't penetrate these levels and close above them on Fri, 8/21. That would be 2 consecutive weekly closes under the 40 week MA for both the Dow and the NYSE and would be enough confirmation for me of a severe correction. Ciao.

The Russians decided to have a moratorium on their debts for 90 days.

Yeltzin is going to meet with his PM to discuss the situation.

My speculation is a panic selling at open with a strong reversal tomorrow. The FED will be forced to ease due to teh high dollar IMHO and to avoid a meltdown of the financial markets.

Russia is not Japan and the western security relies on a stable Russia.

Japan fall will be blessing for the west as the Samurai culture will finally disapear and Japan will join western style values and financial standarts.
