Thanks for your clarification and your thoughtful reply.

It is somewhat of a generalization, as much as is "the root of the problem is the continuing American/Israeli drive to totally dominate the region." But I did qualify what I said by saying "in part."

It is certainly a very complicated issue and much of what you say has validity. Our dealings with the Shah and having been an ally of SH in his war against Iran may have been policy decisions that we may now regret. Far from being any ME foreign policy expert, and I can only speculate, but often times the US choice was the devil or the deep blue sea, the lessor of 2 evils.

As far as Israel usurping land that was not theirs, I sometimes ponder on this. Like the way the American Indian was dealt with. Things that were done that were not quite right. I'm not sure there is in anyone's mind an answer to this.

But what we do have is,again, much like the situation with a criminal. He was abused by his parents, mistreated in school and by society, but there he sits having attempted rape and murder.
The treatment he received in the past was unfair, but can that be used to justify his behavior now.
