Hi Robert,

With regards to shills, I am thinking that it is better to know whether they are shills, or they're just "raw raw" shareholders. If the TSE guidelines called for company promoters to be identified, there may be less of a chance that more naive readers are not mislead into buying the stock because they may wrongly understood the postings of shills and "testimonials" of shareholders. Besides, it would only be ethical that companies be asked to identify their paid promoters on chat groups.

The other alternative is for TSE's guidelines to completly prohibit company paid promoters to participate on chat groups, however, I'm not sure if this is constitutional or entirely fair for the companies.

The main point though is that SI threads are capable of governing themselves. Complains of outrageously libelous statements can be made to and be dealt with by the web-mistress. Many a times, positive and communicative IR policies of the company can quickly defuse and posters who are intentionally making wrong and libelous statements about the company. There is just no need for a company to threaten with a legal lawsuit.
