Hi, Nancy!! It's nice to see you here. Yes, you are right--we have always been able to discuss political issues we disagree about because I don't think either of us hates whole groups of people, and probably because we are both women and mothers. I must say I love your little anecdotes about throwing fish back from their perspective (I have seen the boat!) and other stuff that connects us in an essential way having nothing to do with religious belief systems at all. If the German people had not put the Jews in ghettos they would have been connected to them in the way that you and I are connected, even though we are very different. And they would not have been able to exterminate them. It is really finally summer here, and I have been enjoying it. The thermometer has soared into the eighties on occasion, at least until the fog rolls in. I must say I have been glued to my tv set lately, as well. I have been hearing all weekend that Hillary Clinton really did not know until the last couple of days that her husband had been intimate with Monica Lewinsky, and I am stunned about how dysfunctional that seems. The popular sentiment seems to be that if Billy just comes clean tomorrow he will survive, but I see a lot of problems with that strategy, as his deceit really sinks in with the American public, especially the pain and distraction of the last seven months, putting our country in jeopardy on the world stage, and the extent to which he has humiliated his wife, his child, his cabinet, his advisors, and everyone else who went to bat for him. I think he will end up resigning, or being impeached. And I understand that children caught in lies are using his behavior to justify their own, which really snags the collective moral fabric . . .
