What I have found with tech stocks is that each one has it own character in how it gets played and these kind of personalities of the stock can lead one to identify buying opportunities. There are reasons that we don't know about that might have perfectly reasonable basis for why the company does what it does; shareholder value isn't the only issue; especially with speculative issues like WSTL. Better WSTL surprises the competition completely. In the end; patience can pay off.

If I remember events correctly WSTLS droped with AMTX, AWRE, and PAIR, ADTN due to market correction and ADSL deployment being postponed by RBOCs, but WSTL and AMTX later rebounded due to their merger rumors, which ended up with TXN buying AMTX.

<<actually, in the short term (may 1997), it nearly tripled, and by august it did triple.

yeah, the company was silent, and it turned out for the best. however, in both cases the silence has done nothing but alienate holders. >>
