broadcast.com Signs Exclusive Web Advertising and Distribution Agreement With Pegasus Systems' TravelWeb TravelWeb to Become Exclusive Full-Service Online Travel Provider on broadcast.com
DALLAS, Aug. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Broadcast.com (Nasdaq: BCST) and Pegasus Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: PEGS) today announced a Web advertising and distribution agreement in which TravelWeb becomes the exclusive full-service travel reservations provider on broadcast.com. In addition, TravelWeb becomes the first Web site to integrate messages into broadcast.com's streaming multimedia programming.
Under the terms of the agreement, broadcast.com will provide a variety of interactive multimedia Web advertising services. These services include multimedia and traditional banner ads; audio and video gateway ads which run before and during programming; and sponsorship of broadcast.com's channels.
Broadcast.com and Pegasus Systems are taking interactive multimedia Web advertising to the next level by integrating TravelWeb's promotional messages into broadcast.com's content. Broadcast.com's network of 350 college and professional sports teams and 345 radio station affiliates such as BBC radio, provides TravelWeb with a unique opportunity to target messages through contextual integration. For example, a user who is listening to a University of Arkansas college football game will be delivered a customized message promoting travel services to Arkansas. "This allows us to target our marketing to specific destination markets on a global basis," said John F. Davis III, president and CEO of Pegasus Systems.
"This arrangement takes us beyond the standard Internet 'portal real estate' deal. Not only does it provide us with premier placement on one of the Web's most popular sites, but it positions us to take advantage of the next wave of the Internet -- multimedia convergence," said Davis. "We led the industry by launching the first travel site on the Internet in 1994, and now, by becoming the first and only full-service online travel provider to integrate messages into broadcast.com's streaming multimedia programming, we are revolutionizing travel promotions on the Web."
"We are pleased to be working with Pegasus Systems, a leader in travel reservations services, to create the next generation in interactive multimedia Web advertising," said Mark Cuban, president and co-founder of broadcast.com. "Through our ability to deliver contextual integration of highly targeted messages, broadcast.com is creating a compelling alternative to traditional media for both consumer and technology marketers."
