Hi, Nancy! Was that the Lincoln bedroom you are talking about, where if you contributed at least $50,000, you could spend the night? One of the points the news commentators were making tonight is that the campaign fund raising scandals are much dirtier than the crimes Starr is investigating, and the perpetrators reach far up into the White House. As I recall, they also reach Vice President Gore. Janet Reno has thus far evaded appointing a special prosecutor, but I don't know if she will be able to prevail much longer. This is going to be really horrible if Clinton resigns or is impeached, and Gore is indicted. Our adversaries abroad are watching this unfold closely, and are already taking advantage of what they perceive of as Clinton's weakened state. I don't see anything positive happening, and it is all scary and alarming. I was personally really insulted by the President's speech tonight. It seemed like more of the same, skating a thin line based on semantics. I thought he should have had the common decency to just apologize, and let his spinners criticize the Starr investigation later. From what I heard on MSNBC and CNN, the speech Clinton wrote was much softer, but Hillary and his attorney, Kendall, rewrote a lot of it. In the first CNN polls afterwards, Clinton's support is softening a lot. Interestingly enough, women still support him pretty staunchly, but men are dropping away. Clinton's biographer, Maraniss, said he needed counseling. Are things getting a little cooler in Texas? The weather there is not on our front page anymore, so I assumed it was. I'm sorry to hear the rain disappeared so fast!
