Prez,

This may sound crazy, but with many of the foreign markets in turmoil, one has to ask if/when this may affect us. Now we have a smart guy at the Treasury, Rubin, and I think we can assume that he has seen this coming, but didn't say anything publicly, but probably has been keeping Clinton informed. Now if that is true, could it be that Clinton decided he had to end this Lewinsky problem now before we feel any ripple effects here? Because if the economy gets bad, then more than likely his popularity numbers will dive and people will all of sudden care about him having sex with a young intern and lying about it under oath. Which would help explain why he all of sudden decided to testify before the grand jury: Settle this matter before unrelated economic effects affect his ratings, and the possibility of the public favoring impeachment procedures for lying under oath. As President, he is after all the chief law enforcement officer in the country.

Just thinking outloud.

And it is good to have Mark back. But where's David?
