Robin, re: DELL calls...

All just an opinion:

It's difficult (if not, impossible) to guide someone without understanding their psychological, financial threshold for pain. There are a few common guidelines which may be helpful toward any trade...

* Educate yourself on possible options strategies.
* Establish a game plan before each trade: a) visualize a price range for the underlying [eg, DELL]; b) establish mental or hard stops; c) determine contingencies for holding, partial liquidation, etc.
* Adhere to your game plan.

As anxiety mounts decision-making tends to be erratic -- decisions are made more rapidly and frequently. This can be deadly, given that trading behavior may become attached to every undulation in stock price. In my observation, a common tendency is an attempt to "get even" -- entirely emotional.

Therefore, you may wish to take a step back, regroup and enter ONLY after you have developed a plan for exit. This is opinion that I'd offer myself given a time-machine (and believe me, I've been in your shoes.) Sorry to read of your misfortune, and I hope you'll be forgiving of yourself.

Best of luck to you.
Alan
