David, what's your take on the Hong Kong currency board buying the Hang Sheng last Friday?

I'm sure there are lots of people on SI with a better understanding of Hong Kong but as I understand it would be the Treasury buying shares. From the AFR article:

"The Government bought into all 33 blue-chip stocks in the Hang Seng index, while Mr Yam's authority was buying $HK with $US. "

This is the kind of thing Japan says it won't do any longer. To me that's a big negative and could show Mainland involvement.

But again what do I know.
