Thanks Phil (and now see Jurgen's good comments too) for putting this in perspective for us. Suppose the press doesn't know its floats from its devaluations... Agree with Hopkins that the former is preferable... Guess this was the main factoid to note: With immediate effect, the Central Bank in Moscow lowered the corridor in which it supports the rouble, from about 6.3 to the US dollar to 9.5, the Interfax news agency reported. The widened band will be maintained until the end of the year. Thanks for telling us this is no big deal. Signing off on this topic. No more need to flog a devaluing ruble... N.
