Time-to-market issues are driving technology based companies to concentrate on what they do best and farm out the rest. He who gets there first with a working solution gets the biggest piece of the initial pie.

Majors are "downsizing" and streamlining" and small companies are becoming a larger portion of the American Business scene. This tread will continue and strengthen as technology continues to accelerate. IMHO this a major advantage for the US vs others (ie Japan).

Virtual companies/partnerships/networking are the name-of-the-game and IMHO, Digitcom is an example of that model.

The major Telcos will have to do some refocusing as IP technology replaces some of the POTs business.

For an example of what can happen, take a look at IBM. 20 years ago, they were so busy protecting their mainframe business...they missed the beginnings of the software market and the PC market. Protecting turf and current infrastructure was more important. Will the major telcos be smarter this time around???

IMHO some will have to buy their way into the IP Telephony market, making Digitcom a potential future target.
