OT OT About efficiency in government: In 1947 I hitchiked from Phoenix to Yellowstone, great vacation: Returned 45 years later ... they hadn't fixed the roads, but did paint white lodgepole pine framework in Old Faithful Inn dark brown; it peeled. Meantime the Interior dept has been paying to install logging roads to cut stands of 400 year old fir out of our National Forests, receiving less for trees than the roads cost. Around that time a group of volunteers and I raised money for sanitation facilities for the Havasu Indians in the Grand Canyon. Half the children died before their second year, of dysentery.
