From Yahoo Finance : Cisco Ranked No. 1 in Worldwide ATM Switch Port Shipments and Sales by Cahners In-Stat Group SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 17, 1998--Cisco Systems, Inc. today announced that according to a recent market-share report from the Cahners In-Stat Group, it has continued to gain momentum in the ATM WAN and LAN switching markets. Cisco is ranked first in both worldwide ATM WAN switch port shipments and in worldwide ATM WAN switch manufacturer sales in the latest market-share report. The number one rankings for both areas are for the second calendar quarter, as well as for the first half of 1998. The Cahners In-Stat Group report also ranked Cisco first in worldwide ATM LAN switch port shipments and worldwide ATM 155 megabit per second (Mbps) LAN switch port shipments. These rankings are for the second calendar quarter of 1998. ''Cisco has maintained its leadership in the worldwide ATM WAN switch market, holding the number one position in both port shipments and manufacturer sales for the third quarter in a row,'' said Jeremy Duke, Director of the Networking Group at Cahners In-Stat Group. Cisco's worldwide ATM WAN switch manufacturer sales market share is also ranked first at 27.2 percent for the first half of 1998. Proof of Cisco's ATM LAN switch market momentum is reflected in its being ranked first for the second calendar quarter in worldwide ATM LAN switch port shipments with 26.5 percent market share.
