Spatializer Audio Laboratories Inc. Announces Improved Second-Quarter 1998 Financial Results
Audio Licensing and Royalty Revenues Increase 49 Percent; First Revenues for MultiDisc Technologies Inc.
WOODLAND HILLS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 13, 1998-- Spatializer Audio Laboratories Inc. (Nasdaq SmallCap:SPAZ - news) Thursday announced its financial results for the second quarter ended June 30, 1998.

Revenues for the second quarter were $675,000, compared with $577,000 in the comparable period last year, an increase of 17 percent.

The company reported a net loss for the quarter of $1,092,000, or 7 cents per share, compared with a net loss of $1,171,000, or 6 cents per share, in the comparable period last year, a decrease of 7 percent.

Steven D. Gershick, chairman and CEO, stated: ''During the second quarter, the company continued to increase its audio licensing revenue base. MultiDisc Technologies Inc. (MDT) received its first product development revenues and the first MDT patent issuance of what is expected to be an extensive patent portfolio.''

Michael Bolcerek, president of the company's audio subsidiary, Desper Products Inc. (DPI) commented: ''It is exciting to see the growth in digital audio, and the leadership position the company is taking with its partners to deliver digital audio to the consumer. Our licensing arrangements with Toshiba and C-Cube for our digital audio technology, N-2-2, offer significant ongoing revenue potential as this market grows in the second half of 1998 and beyond.
