Mohan, re You do have a point but I think our estimates here seem less outrageous than that of the last quarter where a lot of people came up with ludicrous numbers and at that time I suggested we all take it easy on our estimates for obvious reasons. I guess last quarter Dell missed the whisper by 2 cents and the stock got punished and it took 3 weeks or so for the stock to come back up.I fervently hope it doesn't happen this time around but but who knows but in any event I am ready and willing to take the punishment,YOU? You are right. This quarter the guesses tend to be somewhat more restrained. And I personally don't mind if the stock gyrates up and then falls back. I know it well enough to know that any investor with a long-term horizon is going to do well, and I personally can make some additional money on the ups and downs. But I also fear that our exuberant cheerleading can do some investors serious damage. And that worries me. I know that any investor is responsible for his/her own Due Diligence. Case in point: Robin, who posted this morning with a largish short term position in DELL calls, down about $25K, with the potential for another equally big loss. Currently, in addition to my stock, I am short about 25 AUG and SEP DELL puts, and I'm long about an equal number of calls and LEAPS. So yes, I would LOVE to see DELL go up to 130 this week and fall back to 100 in September. I can take that kind of punishment, <vbg>because I can make a lot of $$$ on the side. I love to take your money in a poker game, where you KNOW that I hold an adversarial position. But I do NOT want a penny from anyone who got nailed while they thought I was trying to help them. So I don't participate in the quarterly guesses any more. I don't object to any of you doing it, either. It's a market phenomenon and it's fun. Moreover, you know that most of us are simply guessing. BUT IT CAN BE MISLEADING TO SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T KNOW THAT THE MAJORITY OF THOSE NUMBERS ARE ONLY GUESSES. And it makes newer investors susceptible to the Bear Scatology. So we need to be aware of what we are doing and saying on this thread, and the potential ramifications to others. My apologies for the soapbox. bachman
