LBJ died in 1973 so from then until Nixon resigned, there were no ex-Presidents. There was much sentiment that Nixon should resign, as a patriotic gesture, because the country needed an ex-President. Ford succeeded Nixon and he's still around so that has to have been the last time.

Ok one more last try, in '74 Nixon was Pres, Johnson died in '73, Truman in '72.
