Sense strand
The strand of DNA whose 5' -> 3' sequence is the same (substituting T for U) as that of the corresponding mRNA molecule. (Synthesis of this mRNA uses the antisense strand as a template.)

Antigen
Macromolecule (usually a protein or polysaccharide) which, when introduced into the body of a vertebrate to which it is foreign, stimulates the formation of antibodies and/or of immune

RNA polymerase
An enzyme that catalyzes the polymerization of ribonucleotides to form RNA complementary to a template (either DNA or RNA).[types in eukaryotes]

Antisense oligodeoxynucleotides (ODN)s are synthetic polymers:
ú the monomers are deoxynucleotides like those in DNA
ú there are usually only 15-20 of them, hence "oligo"
ú their sequence (3' -> 5') is antisense; that is, complementary to the sense sequence of a molecule of mRNA.
