Global Crossing, a Bermuda-based Internet and telecommunications firm, closed at 25-1/2 after going public at $19 a share. The company sold 21 million shares in the offering. Also, Internet advertiser 24/7 Media closed Friday at 20-1/ 4 after going public at $14 a share. The company sold 3.25 million shares in the offering. Both stocks were among the top percentage gainers on the Nasdaq Friday and displayed the kind of hot demand that is unusual in a climate in which investors are avoiding most new stocks.
