Eric - By the way Firewire was developed by Apple. A guy who knows the computer industry like the back of his hand ought to be able to describe the history and contributors to the 1394 standard (aka firewire) - does the name Intel ring a bell here as perhaps having some minor contribution? And also, can you refresh my memory on exactly what were Apple's contributions either technically or in development and evangelism of the standard? They seem to have slipped my mind...
