I have to agree, for now at least, that Amazon will likely trade in a range for a while but if nothing much substantial changes the outlook, like signs management is cutting costs rather than growing losses, then I think it will trend down bellow the 100 level at some point before earnings are released. What remains to be seen is how much the overall market recovers and how well perceived the strength in the retail and e-commerce sales are developing. Even those factors may be over-riden if the mood of the investors turns more conservative in the face of Asian, Russian and other market concerns and in the face of increased competition for timid dollars from sectors that show solid financial performance (what the hey IS THAT? Amazoniansgonenuts may wonder).

The market is cooling it's enthusiasm for the sector and Amazon in particular but that enthusiasm could heat up in the traditionally strong retail 4th qtr. I don't think it will be as wonderfull as some analysts expect but could offer some momentary fireworks. If some of the competition gets their act together, as I'm sure many will, then the brilliant future perceived for Amazon.com may turn out to be much more competitive and ordinary - certainly not worth a highly speculative valuation. I'm watching closely how market perceptions develop - perception is more important than reality, as we've come to know, for this Bizarro world stock.
