I still do not know what a leap is

Bob,

A "leap" is nothing more than an option with a longer term expiration, generally from 1 year 2 1/2 years. For example you can buy the TBR options expiring on the third Friday of January in the Year 2000 with a strike price of 95 for about $22. If you need to know more, don't hesitate to ask.
