Dwight, you have echoed a sentiment I have expressed here before. If LGND were now at $50, everyone here would be patting themselves on the back for being such a savy investor. Since we are below $10, some investors want to point the finger to avoid the blame for speculating in a biotech that has retreated for the time being. Henry makes his view well known, like many others here. But certainly, not a soul here has been forced to buy a single share of LGND. Let us stand on our own decisions and go forward. In general, I find that to be more productive than finger pointing.

Good Luck,
Greg

Re: Darn, Gotta do One More...

I don't recall anyone complaining that Henry was hyping Ligand in February or March, and the tone and general content of his posts haven't changed since then.

First, I strongly disagree with your first point. You may not like who was complaining about Henry, but, for goodness sake, there was plenty of grousing well before this year. I, for one, had many things to say about Dr. N (both positive and, +ahem+ "constructive").

However, I agree with your point to this extent: the collapse in Ligand has engendered bitterness on the part of some people, as it has also generated some measure of "cognitive dissonance" (e.g. stubbornness) in others.

Finally, I think Henry spends more time on thread histories and poster identities than he did in the past. Hostility and polarization have increased exponentially in the past few months, and the true believers of both stripes bear some measure of responsibility for the collapse of civility here.

>The question is, do Henry's posts themselves hype or "spin" Ligand?

The answer is clearly YES.

LGND drops to $8 1/2 on the day the Q is released, however, henry in convinced that the Q had 'nothing new'. This is Spin.

He 'couldn't' get through to IR, but 'someone that did' emailed him positive information. This is Hype.

He will now post 10+ messages on this. That will be diversion.

Not true. Go back and read my post in Feb & Mar
