Dear Christine: I really had no idea that you took your inquiry so seriously. It was a question pertaining to a population control device long used by Aleuts and such - maybe it has stopped by now. Females were not much physically in helping maintain the social unit, fishing, ice-chopping, beast capturing. But they did MAKE BABIES. So, they killed 'em as soon as they blossomed. My question looked towards a universal response: It Is Horrible! But Steve placed himself in seal skin boots. In which case it is not so Horrible to do a Horrible deed to Preserve your society.
