The HP factor.

Pat you think HP's earning surprise would have any positive impact on the market today??? I believe it will but what is interesting to note is that they beat the estimate by 4 cents though the YOY earnings growth was a big ZERO.Hummm some companies have all the luck,I mean can you imagine Dell having the same result and treated the same way? I think not, I see discrimination of the worst kind here as some companies are treated differently, rewarding one for zero growth while possibly punishing another for missing the whisper number by a penny but with substantial YOY growth [i am of course referring to Dell's Q1 results], go figure.<VBG>

Excerpt from MarketWatch.

HP-reports surprise after market close . . .

PALO ALTO, Calif. (CBS.MW) -- Hewlett-Packard Co. shares could travel higher Tuesday, and pull the Dow Jones Industrial Average with it, after the computer maker revealed an earnings surprise. The computer equipment and printer manufacturer reported a third-quarter net income of $621 million or 58 cents a share, beating Wall Street's consensus estimate of 54 cents a share. The report was in-line with last year's third-quarter profit of 58 cents a share. Asia is still a sore point, the company reminded investors.

The "Mighty Dell" is on the runway. It is "firing on all cylinders" and ready to take off.

The tower says, runway .51 with at 2:1 split. Fasten your seat belts!

Greenspan weather tower says the sky is clear with 10 points on the horizon.
