It's curious that, after all this time and all the frustrations, Fong et al. suddenly get anti-id to work for not just one antigen, but for a variety of them.

Physicians are not necessarily serologists. That's not to say that these antibodies are not capable of eliciting anti-tumor responses, although I have my doubts.

Some of biotech's most publicized failures have involved immunoglobulins that had no physiologically relevant affinity for the antigen that was supposedly used to induce them.
