Dell Computer to Build Assembly Plant in Brazil, WSJ Reports

Round Rock, Texas, Aug. 18 (Bloomberg) -- Dell Computer Corp. signed an agreement to build an assembly plant in Brazil, in a bid
to boost its share of the Latin American personal computer market, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing an official familiar with
the negotiations. Under the agreement with the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, Dell will build an assembly plant there to serve
as a center for sales in South America's southern regions, including Argentina and Chile. While a Dell spokesman declined to
comment on its plans, at the company's annual meeting last month, Vice Chairman Morton Topfer said Dell intended to open a plant
in Brazil next year and spoke of Latin America as key to its international expansion, the paper said.

Unlike many other computer manufacturers, Dell builds PCs only when customers place orders. (WSJ 8/18 A14 www.wsj.com)

GM;

<< I have a clue, take a look at the chart of HWP and DELL. >>

My point is that there is simply no comparison between HP and Dell. HP's stock is not based entirely on its PC sales.

<<What do you want to own a company that has to/worry about laying people off (or call it extended vacation if you want), or company that is changing to market place? >>

I prefer whichever will get me the greatest gain into the immediate future. That has been Dell. In fact I've never owned HWP, but i've the greatest respect for them, their technologies and their founders.
