Another important reason for a company to buy back share is that the company feels the retained earnings can not be used to grow revenues further by expansion. Thus they either buy back shares or give out as dividends.

Eric, Those seem to work but are artificial effectors of SP.
But if intel cannot find another investment and is afraid to invest in making Intel even bigger(DOJ?) it is legal and doable.
