Thanks for the post jeff:

I have been reading the new news groups CL has and ALOT of people are looking for that ac3 de/encodeing on the live card so my guess is we should see this very shortly. Also DVD is starting to pick up and is getting alot of time on the group... as well as the 128.

I must say CL is doing a good job on the news group and has given CL a BIG boost to its image... which just a few weeks ago was that of the bottom of my shoe.

Only bad review I have seen is from zd that was in my view more about how the writer things people that don't know a computer from a toaster will see audio cards. And really didn't tell much other than people will buy CL if that person likes CL and a3d if that person likes a3d... I had to ask myself what was the point of writing it then? NO real INFO.

One thing that spells good news for cabridge is that many people are buying the cambridge speakers with the new live card. I would love to see the 5.1 setup out ,ac3 for the live card would be a good sell for the 5.1. Just from the stand point of it just looks cool on the specs sheet to have ac3 along with your 5.1. ; P

Couple of stories from Bloomberg over the last days. I have to
paraphrase them as they are to long to type and Bberg is standalone.

17/8/98 19:13 est. Multimedia Week interview with Sim Wong Hoo:

Q: last qtr fincls indicate $8.3m writedown. What was that for?
A: we stopped video-conferencing program and moved speaker manufact-
uring to Asia. All these are one-time chges. Video-conf has become a software bundle.

Q: what are you doing with graphics business to combat pricing
pressure?
A: focus on high end of mkt which can still be profitable. There is some margin.
we intend to be a v. strong player

Q: other than SB Live what products r u looking to improve fincl this
year?
A: v strong in sound cards and margin is v good. Move into speakers
with Cambridge - can be v big because every good sound card needs
a good speaker. 4-point surround with multi-channel pushed. DVD ang
graphics. DVD is finally taking off in a big way now that it's under
$200. Huge Xmas DVD seen - there could even be some shortage, then
next yr DVD will start to take over from CD-ROM.

Q: Hge xmas for DVD?
A: 100,000 per month (!)

Q: Savings from speaker mfring to Asia?
A: Quite significant. Cambridge still in charge of quality control.
Many materials originally came from Asia. Very labou intensive. High
volume will reduce costs. More high-end speakers in SoundWorks linw.
Flat-panel still expensive, but a discount one could become attractiv.

Q: Revenue projections for current qtr?
A: expect some movement. last qtr down about 10% - expect to catch up
sequentially and grow 10%. Profit too hard to tell right now- depends
on product mix. Last qtr shipped very little audio as waiting for
SBLive. Audio revenue down from hist. almost 60% to 33%. Even with
low audio margin stayed at 25% showing strength of other parts of co.

Bloomberg 19/8/98 04:00 EST
shares of creaf singapore rose as much as 6.8% as it's seen as cheap
compared with potential earnings. "Xmas sales shld be good and their
audio products are doing well in US and Japan" said Pearly Yap,
analyst with SG securities. Yap to upgrade her "sell" recommendation.
Still there are concerns that creaf's graphics card business is not
doing well and that sales of SBLive might fall short of target
