Jean, Same thing is happening to Kodak. They are getting into electronic cameras. but the cost of entry to that business is very low as is shown by the plethora of CCD and CMOS cameras coming out of the woodwork. In addition the tie to kodak is broken, buy a camera and never buy another thing. Film, give them a funny camera and grown fat on film and paper.
Both film processin and paper will erode sharplym as will X-Ray and other film uses as direct image to xerography onto transparent mylar kicks that business to death. This will cut silver use and silver will fall in long run. 5 years and Kodak will be at deaths door unless it re-invents bigtime.
Another Xerox parallel, xerox recovered somewhat, Kodak might totally fail.
