I could care less what Clinton did to Monica but he should be impeached, as I've already said several times, because he has supported and continued the despicable war on drugs. Of course, for that same reason, all the dumbocrats and repugnicans should be forced to resign also. We need a general clearing of the congress and presidency comparable to what the eastern european countries went thru when they dropped the communists from power. These people are utter scumbags who have sold out our rights and our constitution. They are the moral equivalent of communists.
But back to the market. It looks like my original prediction of a rally into september is coming true. I agree that the Clinton scandal is now over for the media so there is essentially no new news happening that will affect the market for several weeks at least. I expect the market to rally the whole time. When earnings warnings start appearing in the middle to end of september that will be the time to once again go short. I still expect to see an October crash/correction since I think earnings will be pretty bad for a lot of companies, especially the semi's and related companies. But for now the feeling is back and the market will move much higher, I think.

<<you give me the impression that you think bill clinton is truthful in all other aspects of his presidency, but just not in his personal life.>>

I don't think I said or implied this. But I have known people that have hid their affairs and yet have been pretty trustworthy about most other things. But that was not my point.

My point was that Bill's not going to get impeached for this, and that Starr is so far removed from the job he was hired to do that the whole investigation is absurd. And that I am one of the us that appears to be fixated on this stupid subject, and find that to be disturbing.

I suppose your point is that we can't have a President that lies about his extramarital affairs to the American people, because he is sure to lie about everything else. I don't think that is necessarily true. Moreover, the country appears to be in pretty good shape, especially as the world economies around us appear to be in collapse. Although the market is headed for a fall, I don't think that it is his fault, Greenspan has done his best to keep markets in check without raising rates, which would worsen the already failing asian markets, which would then increase their effect on our own market.

As long as he runs the country effectively, I don't care if he lies to me every day of the year about his personal life. What lies do you believe he has told that effectively undermine your confidence in his ability to operate the country? And do they actually affect his ability to run the country, or are they just a personal affront to your sensibilities?
