Digital Research: Didn't IBM approach DR for an operating system (CP/M) and when they arrived to talk, Gary Kildall, DR's founder chose to spend the day flying instead of honouring his commitment to meet with them. They left quite angry, after all, THEY WERE IBM, and went to Gates, who rolled out the red carpet. The rest is history. P.W.

P.S. Killdall gets a bad rap from this story. He was a brilliant technical guy, but not interested in running a business. Gates was brilliant in both.
