Former intern suing Jay Leno over Clinton joke

NOVI, Michigan (CNN) -- A former
Justice Department intern is suing "The
Tonight Show" host Jay Leno over a gag
based on a college recruitment brochure
that bore a picture of her with President
Clinton and boasted of opportunities for
"hands-on experience." The photo,
which was used in an Albion College
brochure, shows Carrie Photsios
standing next to Clinton during her
internship in Washington. Leno read from the brochure on his February 9
show.

Photsios, 24, contends she suffered "embarrassment, humiliation and
indignity" and is seeking more than $75,000 from Leno and three other
defendants, including Detroit's WDIV-TV, which aired the show. Michigan
Press Association attorney Dawn Phillips Hertz said that Leno's comments
clearly were in jest, so Photsios' lawsuit "is going nowhere."
