tdl, perhaps an ineffective government is best! Also consider that the Republicans have total control of Congress, the courts, and most governorships. Yet the Democrats have rendered them totally ineffectual by using their one big office to divert them into chasing "escapades" instead of pushing through legislation that the Democrats consider offensive. Some have said this "escapade" was a setup to render the Democrats ineffective, but it could be the other way around.

You can't assassinate Clinton's character; he never had any to begin with.

Horsefeathers! That's the White House spin you are spouting. A half honest President would have never cost anyone that amount of money. Some one should tell Clinton that the reason for all that expense has been his evasive and lying behavior. If we spent twice that to root out a lying President it would be cheap compared to the benefits.

Clinton is gone in my books. Imagine if your son or daughter were being returned in a body bag with a condolence letter from this President .... I can't begin to imagine my reaction.

Imagine you are the King of Somewhere negotiating with this President! Would you even consider it? I would not. I'd wait a couple of years before dealing with the USA again. In fact I would take Clinton to be such a poor reflection on the whole US that I would think hard about talking to anyone from a country that puts up with such a President. If in deed Americans "all do it" (lie) then, given a choice, I might rather deal with some other country.

I firmly believe that Clinton's resignation is in order. Keeping him around to finish out his term sends everyone from kindergarten to the far reaches of the Himalayas the wrong message. If he resigned it would be fabulous for the whole country ... stock markets ... self esteem ... international stature of the US, etc.. What a relief.
Some lesser political lights, clean down to the dogcatcher in East Nowhere, AZ, would get a message about acceptable conduct. I think the whole country would explode and celebrate even if that meant putting up with Al Gore for a couple of years ... and who knows, he might do well ... and if not ... we'd know who not to vote for in the next election. If you remember, Nixon's departure came as an huge relief.

I am left to wonder about these polls showing only somewhat weakening support. Today I was in a dentist chair, a barber shop, two markets and a movie house and all the comments to be heard were negative. There were a few supporters on the radio.
