I have a very difficult time believing it is options related--Tuesday is too early to make that kind of play. Indeed, given the general movement of the market, it would have been a far better play to have waited until Wed or Thur. It is also a huge play simply to be options related.

I am almost sure it isn't related solely to a downgrade.

My best guess is that it is related to the size of the Symbios write-offor or another piece of bad company news.. If it's FMR reacting to that news, than it will be interesting as to how much they lighten their position.

Another thought that I have which is purely and solely my speculation is the reiteration of the VLSI takeover rumors. I don't think we shall be in the dark for long on this size of trade though.

DavidG,

Interesting chart of EMC and LSI. The Symbios acquisition was announced June 30.

I wonder if Symbios is losing some work to EMC?

For Addi!......check this.......H&Q upgraded LSI to a "buy" and BT Alex. Brown a "strong buy" on April 24..........looks like they got it right between the eyes.
