You can post that all over SI, Mr. Dart, but I still won't respond to it. And this will be it.

I learned a long time ago that to respond to your kind is a waste of time. Please forgive me for initiating contact with you. You are right and I am wrong. There, is that what you need?

Most here on SI know me to be a thoughtful, helpful, and polite poster. I'll leave it to you to try to change everyone's mind. I'm glad you have a new mission to add to your others.

Have at it, Mr. Dart.

INFO DART,

Complaints similar to yours about Datek have been posted to this thread:

exchange2000.com

Many of the complaints center around a general theme of "I-don't-give-a-darn-about-my-customers". I haven't actively followed the thread in months, but I remember that in the early posts, nearly every online discount broker was slammed by someone. The reasons varied from slow execution to lack of customer service to incorrect execution to not offering shorts or BBs and so on. In general, the only answer I've seen thus far that gave the poster some measure of satisfaction was for them to move their accounts to another broker. And in many cases, the cycle of complaints began over again. Same complaints, different broker. Sometimes I felt the level of expectation on the part of the customer far exceeded the abilities of the brokerage to respond favorably. But selectively read through some of the earlier posts and judge for yourself. Perhaps things have improved over the past few months, but if your experience is any indicator...

FWIW, I use Waterhouse as my online broker, but I don't do any of the fancier type of investments that Waterhouse may not offer. Hence, I have no complaints.
