Yes, but she does need a house! I am looking to buy a house in Belmont, Redwood city, San Carlos area (Silicon Valley) and the prices are just passed outragous!

I have no idea what sellers are thinking (or for that matter those who buy these homes are thinking)! I strongly recommend anyone who lives in the Silicon Valley to take half a day and look at a few homes that are in the market - and these days everyone seems to want to sell their house ! - (especially those in Belmont, Redwood City, Cupertino, and of course Palo Alto). They are selling little dumps worth at most 40-50K for 600K-700K+. Heck, my broker even took me to see a 1.5 million dollar home in Redwood city last Saturday (not that I am planning to buy 1+ million home!!) but just to show me what I can get in this area!! The so called $1.5 million home was a 2400 Sqft 8 years old, 4 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath with a little dinky backyard and absolutely nothing (and I mean nothing) spectacluar about it!! It was a clean home , and open but nothing special. And the guy was asking $1.5 million for it!! Now I have no idea who in his right mind will pay that sort of money for that house (probably those who bought Yahoo, or Amazon a year ago)! But I for one will not do so even if I had 100 million dollars!! It is simply getting out of hand.

And people say the stock market is overvalued. Well I tell you, grossly overvalued stocks such as Yahoo, and amazon are literally nothing compare to the housing market in Silicon Valley!

After having gone for my bike ride, I think the most likely scenario is that major fund got hold of the Symbios results that LSI will be posting proforma on Symbios, and quite frankly there is no way the results for 1 and 2 Q 1998 will look that good. The most likely result is that there is a loss posted for Symbios since Symbios is not immune to the decline in semis for this past quarter, which was the most severe since 2Q 1990. But if this is the case, then clearly it will be an overreaction to the loss, since LSI has taken a tremendous beating of over 35% since 2Q. Any drop to in the 15s in the best buying opportunity one may ever see in LSI. And finally, a word about technical indicators. I know a lot of "technicians" are saying that LSI could go to 12 because that is where the next level of support is. I find that to be an outright goofy use of technical analysis, since the fundamentals are so clearly different for LSI since it was even 15 much less 12. We shall see.
