Hi Frank:

To place things in perspective, you should be aware
that John Cioffi was Amati (AMTX)'s founder and CTO.
Prior to being purchased by TXN, AMTX developed the
full blown DMT ADSL standard, which offers up to
8Mb/sec downstream. However, it requires a splitter.
The splitterless DMT version pushed by Aware offers
only up to 1.5 Mb/sec. So, his comments, although
technically accurate, should be interpreted within
the context of the AWRE/TXN battle over standards.

Best regards,

Bernard Levy
