RE:"Well, let's see if they can mount a comeback."

To tell you the truth...Apple is too short sighted to make any major comeback. They are basically still Zealots with a 3% market share.

Paul Engel. Re: "Well, let's see if they can mount a comeback."

I have used MAC's since the mid-80's, and have also used Windows 95. I like using the MAC, 'cause I'm comfortable with it. The G3's are excellent machines. I have owned the stock & lost money on it. As you know, I have owned Intel and CPQ for many years and made lots of money on both of them.

With that as background, the reason I have not invested in what I use is that I do not believe the Apple business model is viable. They are a vertically integrated company, when all the Wintel boxmakers are horizontal. The iMac for $1299 with no floppy is IMHO an arrogant gesture, ignoring the realities of the marketplace, in terms of pricing.

Nevertheless, I DO hope I am wrong and they are successful,'cause we still have household penetration at 40%+, and I have recently seen data indicating that about 50% are "have nots" 'cause they currently see no use for a computer. We do need missionaries who can simplify computing for the average person.
